Community Action empowers empowers lives through community programs & partnerships that promote individula & community enrichment. We provide a comprehensive approach to the needs of the economically disadvantage individuals and families through a variety of services. Through the last 55 years, Community Action continues to implement the philosophy of self help; a "a hand up, not a hand out" through innovative programs and services that emphazie and develop problem solving skills for people. We are dedicated to helping the disadvantaged in the community , including the poor, elderly, families, children and people with disabilities in order to enable them to live in dignity.
We offer Head Start & Early Head Start Program to prepare income eligible and at-risk children for success. We offer housing assistance for hose facing eviction, foreclosure or 1st months rent to be able to obtain safe and affordable housing. Our disadvantage children throughout Ulster County & Sullivan County provide services that otherwise they would not otherwise receive such as winter coats, new clothing, Christmas and Easter, backapcks and school supplies. These children services are only provided through donations received from local donors and fundraising.
The funds raised through our Basket BINGO Fundraiser goes directly to the Children's Programs. We are dedicated to help the children throughout our community to help stop childhood hunger . We are determioned to make a difference in a child's life. When a community comes together for a cause, a powerful transaction occurs - CHANGE. Imagine communities coming together to help provide assistance to children who might be going without.
