As you know the children in South Los Angeles need immediate attention and assistance to stop gun violence.

My seven-year-old daughter and I have been working with the Watts Community, LA County Parks and Recreation, LA Unified School District, and other organizations to create a clean and safe environment for the children of Watts California to play at Serenity Park and Monitor Skate Park, as part of her ongoing School leadership project.   Our team has been extremely impactful, and we intend to continue to support the Watts Community.     Starting on February 1st we have been given permission by the City of Los Angeles to start a Skateboard Exchange program.

When the children in Watts, break their decks doing tricks, due to financial hardship are unable to replace their equipment.   These children who use Monitor Ave Skatepark are surrounded by the PJ Crips, Grape Street Crips, and the Park itself is deep in Bounty Hunter Bloods territory.  When these children cannot utilize this skatepark, they often find themselves in bad situations.  The Simple idea is that kids who pick up skateboards are less likely to pick up Guns and kids who are playing on skateparks are less likely to join gangs.

Skate Exchange allows students from 2nd grade to 12th grade who are actively enrolled in school, to go to the Skateboard Exchange Website, fill out some basic information and then go to a public office and trade their old decks for a new one.

This will be a front-line youth diversion program that aims to impact children before they become part of the system.

On Friday Isabella just became one of the youngest students at LA Unified to receive her GATE Leadership Designation.

Isabella is at the forefront of fighting the Covid 19 pandemic and has sponsored several Vaccine events through her VAXXnSKATE program.

In April Isabella will join forces with the American Red Cross for a Blood Drive where she hopes to collect more than 500 units of Blood the compare the shortages.
