Mission: UCP Central PA empowers people of diverse abilities to live a meaningful life through innovative support and services.

When we opened at as The CP Center in 1953, we provided therapies only to children with Cerebral Palsy (CP) and at that time autism was not a recognized diagnosis. Since those early beginnings, UCP has grown, evolved, and adapted to meet the ever-changing needs of individuals and their families.

Today, UCP offers comprehensive supports and services that annually enhances the everyday lives of nearly 3,000 people with a variety of diagnoses and conditions across 22 central Pennsylvania counties. We’ve grown and adapted, embracing technological advancements and responding with innovative approaches.

UCP Services

  • Agency with Choice: A support service model which gives individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disability or Autism (IDD/A) the freedom to direct their own services, at home and in the community.
  • Childhood and Ancillary: Early Intervention Services, Family Support Services and Assistive Technology
  • Early Intervention services support the cognitive, motor, communication, and social development of infants and children who have or are at risk of developmental delays.
  • Family Support services offer a broad system of support and activities that focus on the whole wellbeing of the family
  • Assistive Technology services improve lives and enhance independence at home, school, work and in the community.
  • Community Participation Supports gives adults with disabilities the opportunity to explore and embrace what life has to offer. Individuals build life-long friendships, explore hobbies and experience the joy of volunteering.
  • Employment Services empowers individuals to reach their career goals and excel in their chosen field.  We work one-on-one with individuals, connecting them with resources and opportunities. We build relationships with potential employers to secure long-term employment and success.
  • Home and Community Services gives individuals the chance to lead fulfilling, independent lives in the comfort of their own homes and in the greater community.
  • Residential Services include 19 licensed homes, a respite home, and 10 supported living apartments, providing a family-like environment and skill building to eventually lead to independent living through the Home and Community Services program.
