According to UNICEF, 10.5 million school aged children do not currently attend school in Nigeria. As a result of this staggering statistic United For Kids Foundation was born with a mission to build multiple programs designed to provide low income youth with a quality education.
United for Kids Foundation was founded in April of 2002 when a group of friends and colleagues visited an Orphanage in Lagos to provide the children with supplies that included books, food, and clothing. After this visit UKF was created as a vehicle for those who are less fortunate to have a sustainable future through education, business support, and social welfare programs. Nearly 22 years later, United for Kids Foundation is providing over 600 hundred children weekly with literacy lessons through our in school and mobile library programs. Our mission at UKF is to “Heal Nigeria and indeed the World: one child, one heart, and one smile at a time.”
Since 2002, we have implemented programs targeted at children from low-income families with donations solicited from friends, members of our network, and fundraising events. As we celebrate 22 years of service, we hope to continue to provide services to the communities in Nigeria who need our support the most.
