United Way of the Tri-Valley Area strives to unite people and resources to improve lives and build a strong and healthy community. It does this by identifying local needs and addressing their root causes, raising funds to meet those needs, and collaborating on local initiatives that create a measurable difference in Greater Franklin County. The organization was established in 1981.

UWTVA’s service area has a population of almost 40,000, with 17% of residents under age 18.  School districts in the service area include MSAD 58, Rangeley Lakes Regional School, Stratton School, and RSU 9 and RSU 73. The childhood poverty rate is 12.8%. Coburn Gore is the furthest point north, which is a border crossing into the province of Quebec, Canada, and the struggling paper mill towns of Jay, Livermore and Livermore Falls form the region’s southern border.
