The Universal City Public Library is, once again, proud to present our biggest event of the year, the Summer Reading Program! This important event at our library encourages local children, ages birth-17 and their families to read and enjoy the many benefits that the library offers over the course of the summer. Last year, more than 400 children and teens participated in our Summer Reading Program, a number we expect to increase this year due to our expanded program offerings and the addition of a summer reading program for adults.
The library’s Summer Reading Program offers extensive enrichment activities related to literature that are often unavailable in schools. In addition to encouraging a lifelong reading habit, studies show that reading throughout the summer helps children in this age group to retain skills learned during the school year. We hope that you will consider joining our efforts to support our area youth and their families.
