Our Community Center is a local facility for our mountain community, where we serve a variety of entitities, such as our local volunteer fire department for usage for search and rescue, emergency shelter, and C.E.R.T program; US Forest service uses our facility for environmental and wildlife courses; our small school (64 students) uses it the center for their fundraisers and activities for children k-8th; the Green Thumb Garden Club also uses the facility to meet monthly regarding local vegetation, plants, flowers, and clean ups in our mountain community; the building was donated by Gail D. Cox to provide a building for the community and VFCCi is the board that sees that building is maintained and operated and made available for the commmnity to use for fundraisers, events, celebration of life, etc. we have three paid employees who make $200 a month for outside maintenance, custodian, and event coordinator.
The center operates on donations, special events and fundraisers. We are a town that has basically town owned building that used for almost everything in this community that has a total 1053 residents.
