We are a disabled Veteran Owned, Non Profit 501c(3) charity. We have two worlds in which we work, virtual and live events. The virtual side is more of a silent mission. We (the board members) work with countless companies in gaining product (donations) to either raffle, or to use as prizes when we hold virtual BBQ competitions. The goal here is to pull the Veteran out of his or her home, by challenging them to a virtual BBQ competition. These competitions are often a whole weekend thing and get these veterans engaged with others in person and through the Facebook posts. We provide a breakdown of the competition (a single meal, nothing too crazy) and the members then participates in the event to win prizes. In doing this we have helped pull 5 veterans away from suicide so far. Each of those veterans has reached out to us and shared their stories. We have roughly 2200 members in our group, and about 1200 on our page.
The other side of our work is the live events. You can find this information on our page/website referenced above. We collaborate with other charities in having BBQ events for disabled/disadvantaged kids, homeless folks, Veterans, EMS, etc.
