VIBES (formerly VIBS) has been a pioneer in the domestic violence and rape crisis movements, serving victims of family violence since 1976. We provide counseling, advocacy, legal services, and housing support to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking, child abuse, and other forms of trauma. We also manage Suffolk County's Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program, providing forensic exams to sexual assault victims at four local hospitals. In 2021, VIBES served 2,725 trauma victims, including 237 that were seen in the hospital as part of our SANE program. Our mission is to "support clients to become free from violence through crisis intervention, counseling, advocacy, and an array of support services that empower and transition our clients towards independence" (www.vibesli.org).
