I am member of the steering committee for the Virginia Association of Forest Health Professionals. We operate an annual conference for 100-200 forest health professionals which will be held this year in Glenn Allen, Virginia.
Virginia Association of Forest Health Professional's mission is to promote forest health education primarily by arranging an annual conference where we hear the latest on emerging pests, existing issues and other related forest ecology and forest health topics. Attendees include local, state and federal officials, independent contractors, consultants, horticulture and forest industry representatives and students. We encourage anyone interested in the ecology of the Mid-Atlantic to participate. VAFHP is committed to developing and providing education and training for natural resource professionals.
We are able to raise funds as a 501(c)(3) non-profit through registration fees, sponsorships, and also through a silent auction which is held during the conference. Past donations have been extremely helpful in allowing us to raise funds so that we can continue providing forest health education to Virginia stakeholders. We were able to recoup most of our extra costs from our silent auction last year!
