Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization with more than 1.4 million members in approximately 46,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas around the world. Global causes supported by Lions International include Diabetes, Vision, Hunger, Childhood Cancer and the Environment.
Our chapter, Westmont Lions, is located in Westmont, NJ in Camden County, NJ close to Philadelphia. We support our organization's global causes by providing hundreds of free eye screenings each year to young children through KidSight USA, supporting local food banks, participating in Lions Strides walks for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, recycling, and raising money for the Emmanuel Cancer Foundation - which supports families whose children are battling cancer. Our club also helps the Association of Blind Athletes of NJ with their annual Goalball Tournament held at the high school in our town.
We also support our community, especially youth. We organize and run the town's annual Halloween parade, a tradition that has lasted for 75 years and counting, attended by thousands each year. We donate toys to the community toy drive each Holiday season. We sponsor an Easter event where children get candy, and a photo opportunity when they meet Easter Bunny and Lion Benjamin (our club's mascot) and partipate in crafts and facepainting. We award scholarships to graduating high school students attending public and private schools in our town, and support local youth sports programs.
Each Thanksgiving we cook and serve a complete Thanksgiving Dinner to the senior citizens living at Rohrer towers. We make donations to many community causes and sight related charities each year.
We are a small club, but we are committed to helping those in need in our community and around the world as much as we can. We Serve!
