The Westonka Food Shelf is a community sponsored non-profit organization that began providing support to the community in 1969. The mission of The Westonka Food Shelf is to reduce hunger in our local community by respectfully providing nutritionally balanced food options to those in need.
In 2021, Westonka Food Shelf served nearly 2,000 families, representing over 5,000 individuals, by distributing 863,167 pounds of food. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the number of neighbors seeking food support has increased by 265%! We anticipate this heightened need to continue because our patrons’ income levels fall at or below 300% of the federal income poverty guidelines and inflationary pressures are stretching their already limited budgets. As you can see there is a growing need for food support. We are a donation and volunteer-based organization.
