The White Bluff Volunteer Fire Department started in 1995, with one brush truck and a few volunteers after lightning struck some of the brush that surrounds White Bluff. With the help of surrounding volunteer fire departments, the fire was put out and a nearby home was not damaged. After that, it was realized that a fire department was needed for our growing community. The next year an engine was purchased and has since grown into what you see today with eight fire trucks, a rescue boat on Lake Whitney and a support/rehab van. Our Fire Department is a valuable asset to White Bluff as many of our firefighters are also medically trained to respond and give much-needed life-saving assistance until a CareFlite ambulance arrives.
