Hello and thank you for your time. While the band is a curricular program, school funding does not cover all the expenses of operating the program. To help cover these costs, most band programs ask parents to pay over $1000 for their student to participate in the band program, but we are at a disadvantage because Kennedale High School is a Title 1 school. This means that 50% of the students qualify for assistance and are low income, which is why we can’t ask that much from our band parents.

Furthermore, our band lost thousands of dollars last year because we were unable to hold our normal fundraisers due to COVID.  And new UIL rules state that props in the competition are now judged, which means we will need to spend more than in years past to even have a chance to compete.  We estimate that it will cost $35,000 for next year’s competition alone.  That does not include the cost of replacing many of our instruments that are no longer functioning at their optimal performance level.  We are currently in need of $16,000 to replace just one of our drums.

With the support of our great community, the Kennedale High School Marching Band has been a UIL State Finalist the last four competitions in a row. But this year, we have greater financial challenges to overcome to repeat such an accomplishment.  That’s why we need your help!  Please consider sponsoring this awesome band program and promote your business at the same time!

Our children are our future and as they become young adults, they enter their most impressionable years, which is why being a part of a band program can be beneficial to them.  It is a known fact that adolescents who play music are more adept at language and math, but the learning experience reaches far beyond that.  Marching band teaches them responsibility, teamwork, discipline, dedication, multitasking, time-management, and resilience among many other things. They learn that there are no shortcuts in life.
