Wilsonville Royal Family KIDS is promoting physical, emotional and spiritual healing for child victims of neglect, abuse and abandonment through intervention programs, education and advocacy. One of our most effective interventions is a 5-day summer camp where we serve children ages 7-11 years old. Camp is where many kids get to be kids – often for the first time in their young lives.
For the last 18 years Wilsonville Royal Family KIDS Camp has helped make a difference in the lives of children suffering from abuse and neglect. Our camp extends love and care, with adults modeling a non-violent, positive way of life as an alternative to many of the negative, abusive situations which these children have faced. In addition to receiving the attention and encouragement of adult camp counselors and his/her buddy campers, each camper is also exposed to a variety of fun activities, designed for their success and to build self-esteem - crafts, wood working, games, sports, hiking, swimming and fishing are all part of the program.
We aim to transform lives and communities by interrupting cycles of neglect, abuse and abandonment of children in the foster care system. We fulfill our mission by providing an array of programs, all directed toward changing the trajectory of young lives which usually include a combination of academic failure, drug abuse, teen pregnancy, sex trafficking, homelessness, and incarceration.
They are more than just abused, abandoned and neglected children. Each camper comes to us with special talents, abilities and potential that just needs to be encouraged and affirmed. Every child we serve through Wilsonville Royal Family KIDS is cherished. No matter how broken. No matter how abused. It is our privilege to cherish each one.
