WINKS - With INtentional Kindness and Support, an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit and the only local organization focused solely on providing financial, logistical, and emotional support to brain tumor patients and their caregivers in the Hampton Roads, Virginia area. Our mission: Enhance the quality of life for brain tumor patients and caregivers With INtentional Kindness and Support – no journey is traveled alone!
The Empathy in Action (EIA) program provides emotional, financial, logistical, and informational support to brain tumor patients and caregivers. Through partnerships with local medical facilities, EIA has improved the health and well-being of brain tumor patients and caregivers in several ways. WINKS awards need-based EIA Grants and urgent funding requests to patients and caregivers struggling with the financial burdens of a brain tumor diagnosis. WINKS distributes Brain Tumor Power Packs (BTPPs) to newly diagnosed brain tumor patients at local medical facilities to better equip patients and caregivers to meet the challenges of a brain tumor diagnosis and empower them to make informed decisions about care. Other ways EIA serves patients and caregivers:
• Facilitating support groups
• Supporting patients and caregivers directly (1:1)
• Connecting patients and caregivers with other resources
• Providing information and resources through WINKS website and social media
