Wise is a foster-based rescue in New Jersey dedicated to rescuing dogs of all ages and breeds from places where they are no longer wanted or they’re not being cared for properly. Don’t Shop, Adopt!
Organization Purpose and History
Wise Animal Rescue (WISE) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the well-being of dogs of all breeds, ages, or medical conditions. We are comprised of a network of caring volunteers using a grassroots approach working towards a world where no dog is neglected, abused, or homeless. Wise Animal Rescue rescues these dogs from unsafe environments as well as those who are abandoned or surrendered. Partnering with veterinary practices, Pequannock Animal Hospital, and Putnam Animal Wellness to save these dogs mentally and physically.
Wise Animal Rescue was founded in March of 2016 by Tiziana Bartelli. Wise was formed because of the large number of animals that die in municipal shelters every year. In New Jersey, 15% of the 82,783 dogs and cats that enter municipal shelters don’t ever leave. These animals are euthanized for many different reasons. Even with New Jersey having an 84% save rate, that still leaves 15% gone from this Earth. Wise was formed to help New Jersey become a 100% save state.
When Wise started there were only six volunteers. Now they have over seventy volunteers and thirty-five foster homes, with ten hospice foster homes. Our volunteers provide a grass-root approach to saving dogs, one life at a time.
