Founded in 2015, Wished Upon a Child is the true meaning of Christmas. Our organization has provided the joy of Christmas to over 150 children a year living in Northern New Jersey. We receive a list of names from social service organizations and then the magic begins. Each child is provided with a Dear Santa form to fill out. Unlike other general gift collections, we make sure each child gets exactly what they want or need, right down to correct clothing sizes and favorite colors.
Last year a family experiencing financial hardship was dreading telling their five children they would not be receiving presents. Despite finding out late about their situation, we posted their story on our website and within two hours all the gifts for their children were purchased. When we delivered the five large bags of presents to their apartment, the parents were overcome with emotion. They feared they would have to tell their young children Santa did not exist. Thanks to Wished Upon a Child, Santa is real and delivers holiday cheer to those who would otherwise have none.
We are currently gearing up for our Christmas 2022 campaign. We are sorting through our applications and will finalize our list by October 21st. Our Amazon wish list will be shared on our Website and Facebook page. This year our goal is to reach even more vulnerable children and expand to providing birthday presents in 2023.
We are only able to make each child’s Christmas dreams come true with donations from generous donors like you. Your support is key to helping us provide Christmas for children in need. 100% of every donation goes directly to a local child in Northern New Jersey. If you wish to contribute, you can do so by mailing a check, Venmo, or contacting us by phone if using a credit card. We also will accept any donated goods, please contact us and we can arrange for pickup.
