The WMHS Foundation supports the UPMC Western Maryland patients and staff. We are located in Cumberland, MD. The closest hospital is 60 minues away in any direction. We have patients that do not qualify to be in the hospital but do not have anyone at home to meet their needs. We are paying for patients to be in a beautiful Hospice suite at four different nursing homes throughout Allegany County. During the last days of the patients life we want them to be surrounded by family in a place that is warm and comfortable so they may spend their last days with dignity and respect. The cost is around $300 per day per patient. We are raising money so we can continue to pay for these patients. During a patients last days we do not want them to be burdened with debt. This project began in 2023 with 16 patients. In 2024 we had 42 patients use our hospice rooms. In 2025 we project more than 80 patients will use our hospice rooms.
