We are a small, parent run Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) that helps plan activities and events for our entire elementary school (for both our kids and our staff). Woodrow Wilson has classes that range from Pre-K through 8th grade and is also one of the largest autistic/special needs schools in our district. The majority of our family population is lower socio-economic status. We host many activities throughout the school year, which enourages child interaction, family fun, as well as getting kids to just unwind either during or after a long school day.
Some of our events we host are Halloween Trunk or Treat, Family Skate Night, Family Holiday ornament night, and zumba during week of the young child, just to name a few. We also help our physical education teachers plan our school's largest event, Field Day, which encourages kids to get out and be active, all while enjoying themselves at a fun event.
One of our board members is a special needs mom, so we are always inclusive to our special needs kids, and always consider their needs so that they are included in all of our events. Our school's motto is "Choose Kind", so all of our events are planned with this in mind.
