Who We Are Word of Peace is a vibrant and growing congregation with active participants from young families to retirees. We welcome all people to worship, pray, learn, and serve with us. We believe there's something at Word of Peace for everyone. There are a variety of worship styles, classes, small groups, events and activities to choose from. We encourage people to be active in church life but there's no pressure to get involved. What We Believe As a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, we believe in the basic principles of Martin Luther's theological teachings. We believe: We are saved by the grace of God alone. We are not saved by anything that we do. Our salvation is through faith alone. Confidently trust God, who in Christ promises us forgiveness, life and salvation. The Bible is the norm for faith and life. Our Vision To be a community where everyone experiences Christ's Love and shares Christ's Love with all people. Our Mission Christ works through us as we: Worship God Connect with Others Grow in Faith Serve our Neighbors Our Core Values Love – We love because God first loved us with unconditional grace. Loving others and ourselves includes respect, compassion, and forgiveness. Inclusion – We are intentional in our welcome and hospitality, providing faith formation for all people. Word of Peace is an open and affirming congregation. We strive to be non-judgmental and invite everyone to participate in all of our ministry, faith practices, and leadership. Authenticity – We are genuine and realize that people are not perfect. We seek to listen and to understand each other with integrity, knowing that there is always room for forgiveness and growth. Community – Gathered in Jesus’ name, we build relationships with one another by growing in faith together and meeting each other’s needs, and the needs of the greater community. Service – We are called to actively and boldly love and care for our neighbors and all of God’s creation. Through our local and global outreach, we give generously of our time, abilities, and money.
