I am a middle school social studies teacher who is trying to raise money to take eighth grade students on a once-in-a lifetime trip to Massachusetts to engage learners through exploration & active participation through this historical experience by taking a trip to one of the oldest states in our nation’s history to visit historical sites with them. Some sites on the itinerary would include the Freedom Trail, the Boston Tea Party Ship, Lexington and Concord, the Minutemen National Historical Park, Old North Bridge Battle Site, Cambridge, Harvard University, Paul Revere’s House, Old North Church, Plymouth Plantation, Plymouth Rock, Salem Village including the Witch Trial’s sites and museums, Charlestown, Bunker Hill, and the USS Constitution. I am certified in Social Studies Grades 7-12. I specifically teach about the Revolutionary War era. But it’s not just about seeing amazing sites; it’s about getting the students to interact with the people, the culture, and the actual places these locations have to offer. It’s about removing the four walls of the typical classroom and make history fun and exciting again in this once-in-a-life time adventure.
Because this is not a school-sponsored trip, we are not allowed to fundraise and must pay for the trip ourselves. If you find this trip a worthy cause and donse, you will give the Wallenpaupack Area Middle School an experience incomparable to other learning moments. This would be a trip students talk about for years to come thanks to your generosity if you allow us to go.
