Who We Are: Writers Cubed dba Teen Author Boot Camp, a 501c3 not-for-profit organization established in 2010 dedicated to promoting literacy and authorship in teens, has joined forces with New York Times Bestselling Author, Jennifer Nielsen, to create a new program serving young children called, TABC Book Drop. TABC Book Drop’s mission is to put books in the hands of children living in poverty while creating experiences for them to interact with award-winning authors who will inspire their dreams.TABC Book Drop provides free books to children at Title 1 schools with an author visit. While there are other organizations who focus on providing books to children in need, our organization is uniquely positioned to bring national bestselling authors to these schools, utilizing more than a decade of industry contacts. This face-to-face encounter provides children an experience that shows the importance of reading, inspires a greater desire and excitement about reading the author’s book, and proves to the child that they are valued and important.

The Problem: “As long as children do not have equal access to books, we will never live in a truly equal society.” (Dick Robinson, President of Scholastic Books)  The divide in socio-economic classes in America is irrefutably evident in the number of books children have access to: 13 books per child for middle class areas and only 1 (age-appropriate) book per 300 children in areas of high poverty.

How Can You Help: We require approximately $5000 to do one Book Drop. This amount includes the cost of books, the printing and shipping of signed author bookplates (pre-signed stickers placed in the inside cover of every book so each child's book is signed by the author in advance), and other minor operating costs. 80% of the money raised goes directly to books for the children. We raised $25K in 2021-2022  to complete 7 book drops and need to raise $300K for the 2022-2023 school year in order to do 70 Book Drop events and impact a staggering 35,000 children. This effort will spread to include both Utah and Texas in the 2022-2023 school year with plans to expand to Florida, Oregon, and Massachusetts in 2023-24. Each sponsor we work with is recognized at the event and in marketing and social media materials. Sponsors are invited to attend a book drop event in person.

We invite you to join us in our efforts to improve literacy one child and book at a time.
