The mission of the WHS AFJROTC is to “Develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community." Air Force JROTC provides leadership training and an aerospace science program and other STEM programs for high school students. Secondary school students who enroll in the AFJROTC program are offered a wide variety of curricular and extra-curricular activities. The program is NOT a recruiting tool for the military services and those students who participate in AFJROTC do not incur any obligation to the Air Force. At Wylie High School, this program is fostering leadership and community service in our young men and women. These cadets give us amazing hope for the best of the future leaders of this great country. This program benefits every member of the Wylie High School family, as well as the entire community, through their tireless volunteer efforts. As their booster organization, we support the program with funds for food when they work for the community and the school, funds for equipment for their competitions, and funds for entrance and travel expenses for conferences, educational field trips, and drill team and fitness meets. Additionally, we provide sponsor chaperones for all events where the 2 instructors do not meet the state and district requirements, and we use 100 % volunteer staff to organize and run all our fundraising endeavors. We also give scholarships to deserving senior cadets every year.
