YMCA Camp Surf is a smaller part of the greater YMCA of San Diego County. We are a camp facility located in Imperial Beach, CA, roughy 10 miles south of San Diego, 3 miles from the Mexican border. Each year we host roughly 10,000 youth, families, scouts, and students - 2,000 youth with our Overnight and Day Summer camps, roughly 7,000 people with families, scouts, and community groups, and roughly 3,000 students with school outdoor/environmental education experiences. In addition we see an additional 1-2,000 students through various after-school programs. At least 20% of our campers receive some form of financial assistance to attend Camp Surf and we aim to not turn away anyone because they are unable to pay. Many of our students are from Title I and II schools.

Our program places a strong emphasis on youth empowerment and development, service learning, conservation, ocean education and skills, outdoor recreation, ocean sports, social emotional learning, and nature education. We offer families, scouts, and community groups the opportunity to learn in and about the ocean environment of Southern California. We are able to train and have oceanfront lifeguards on site to facilitate ocean sport and skill development as well as ocean safety awareness for our campers, students, and guests.

In addition we host community events, many pro bono, for citizens of Imperial Beach, CA, including holiday dinners and other gatherings.
