The YMCA YCAP (Youth Community Action Project) for children ages 8-15 is an early intervention and prevention program designed to support at-risk youth who have been referred through various channels, including the Juvenile Court System, guidance counselors, teachers, and principals. The program recognizes the importance of early intervention and aims to provide a nurturing environment where children can thrive academically, emotionally, and socially. Each student has an action plan for success tightly integreated with their family and school system. YCAP reaches these outcomes through activites each day including boxing, gardening, woodshop, tennis, pottery, etc. Youth attend YCAP after school including school breaks, summer programing and special field trips while cultivating relationships with peers, mentor, and the community. Thanks to our donors, this YCAP program is free.
