The mission of Youth Services is to promote the social and emotional well-being of children and youth. Founded in 1970, the agency has grown to offer a variety of programs including individual and group mental health counseling, crisis response, after-school programs, and community education. Oftentimes and when appropriate, therapists utilize activities including art, music and play therapy when working with clients. The agency has the lowest sliding scale in the northern suburbs of Chicago going as low as $1/session and never turns anyone away based on ability to pay. All after-school programs are provided free of charge and service five specific under-resourced neighborhoods in the area. Serving over 1500 children ages 5-18 annually, Youth Services is the cornerstone of affordable, yet specialized mental health care and provides a much needed safety net for the community.
