Description

The 15th Annual March for Marrow 5K Run and Patient & Family Walk will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 8:00 to 11:30 am, at Northshore Park, 2505 Lake Woodlands Drive, The Woodlands.

The event includes a 5K Run, Patient & Family Walk, breakfast, a raffle, activities for children, opportunities for Sponsors and local vendors to table including the National Marrow Donor Program who will be recruiting residents to participate I the marrow registry, and team fundraising.

As patients and family members who have gone through bone marrow failure diseases, our goals for these events continue to be:

1.       Educate the public about rare bone marrow failure diseases.

2.       Create a support community for patients and families.

3.       Raise funds for AAMDSIF’s patient services and for research.

4.       Recruit marrow donors through Be the Match.

5.       Increase awareness of the premier medical resources in the Houston and Central Texas area.

March for Marrow Texas persevered through COVID-19 with VIRTUAL events. We even went STATEWIDE in 2021, running and walking across the state of Texas as well as in The Woodlands. We are going to continue that option, because Texas is a huge state, with many rural areas where doctors have never seen a bone marrow failure patient – and we need to educate them for that first case.

During the pandemic we produced a virtual event recognizing many of our wonderful sponsors, doctors, patients, family members and partners. Now we are back to basics with a 5K Run and 1-Mile Walk for individuals or teams; our 2024 STAR, a resident in The Woodlands, Elizabeth Williams; lots of comradery; and a raffle with some wonderful gifts from Texas and The Woodlands.

We invite everyone across the state of Texas to be with us virtually or in-person as we celebrate being together. We will stand with our arms outstretched from Houston to El Paso and from Amarillo to Brownsville, from east to west and north to south.  Schlitterbahn is a Texas phenomenon and it would be wonderful to be able to offer a trip to your waterpark as part of our Raffle.
