Description

Education Through Music-Los Angeles will come together in celebration of our communities and school partners on November 30th to raise support for music in our schools. We will honor Shining Stars Mike Knobloch (President of Music and Publishing, NBCUniversal), Why Not Incubator / Dr. Jacqueline Sanderlin (Educational Leader), and Juan Rodriguez (Music Educator, Frost Middle School). The 2022 Shining Star Awards are given to those whose contributions through music have positively changed our lives. Honorary Chair Members include Taylor Swift, Chris Martin, Justin Timberlake, Pharrell Williams, HAIM, Snoop Dogg, Anna Kendrick, Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman, John Legend, Tracee Ellis Ross, Jennifer Hudson, Ryan Tedder, and Harvey Mason jr. (Gala Host; CEO, GRAMMYs); additional champions include: Ed Helms, Bono/U2, Chris Meledandri, Rickey Minor, Common, Cynthia Erivo, John Williams, Michael Giacchino, Christopher Lennertz, Brian Tyler, John Debney, Alan Menken, Arturo Sandoval, Steve Aoki, J.J. Abrams, and more.

In its 17th year, ETM-LA has expanded from 2 schools and 800 children the first year to 45 schools reaching approximately 19,000 school children with weekly music as part of the core curriculum. ETM-LA was announced the 2022 1st place winner out of 480 non-profits in the category for K-12 STEAM Education (LA2050 Challenge).
