Help-A-Heart is a non-profit organization founded in 2006 to provide financial assistance to Iowa families during the hospitalization of a child born with a Congenital Heart Defect. An average hospital stay is 4 weeks, and we provide $50/wk to help with gas, food and lodging expenses. We also have support and grief froups that foster relationships between our heart families. Our silent auction is our largest fundraiser, typically raising over $25,000 with over 400 people in attendance. The event features a dinner and soda bar, silent auction which starts online a week before, kids activities, live music and videos and interviews with our founders and the families we support. Donors are recognized in various ways including social media and on fliers at the event.
