Children's Aid, Inc., a 501(3)(c) nonprofit, provides assistance to economically disadvantaged children in Calvert County, Maryland.  Through our programs, we strive to promote the importance of education and literacy.  We also provide children with opportunities to play recreation level sports, which not only helps keep kids active, it also helps promote self-discipline, leadership, teamwork, cooperation, trust, and respect.

Currently, we operate several programs. Operation Backpack provides economically disadvantaged children with a backpack filled with new school supplies and a new, age-appropriate book.  Last year we provided 273 local students with the new start to the school year that they needed. In an effort to provide at-risk children with opportunities for physical activity, we provide Youth Sports Scholarships for a variety of activities, including football, soccer, basketball, and baseball for elementary school students.  The purpose of our Great Book Giveaway Program is twofold: to give books to children who otherwise might not have books (or many books) of their own and to educate parents on the importance of reading aloud to their young children. Our Christmas Cheer Program provides filled Christmas Stockings to youth identified by local partner programs (churches, schools, civic groups, etc).

We are in the process of seeking auction items for our annual online fundraising auction which runs April 15 - May 1, 2019.  

By donating an item to our Bids for Kids auction, you’ll be making a tax-deductible contribution that will help us continue to make life better for individuals in need.  All of the funds raised from this event will be used to further Children’s Aid’s work in our local community.  All donors will have their company website linked to the auction website, will be acknowledged on Children’s Aid, Inc.’s website and social media channels and are acknowledged in our May 2019 newsletter.
