About the Nonprofit
Visit Our Website Children's Aid, Inc., a 501(3)(c) nonprofit, provides assistance to economically disadvantaged children in Calvert County, Maryland. Through our programs, we strive to promote the importance of education and literacy. We also provide children with opportunities to play recreation level sports, which not only helps keep kids active, it also helps promotes self discipline, leadership, teamwork, cooperation, trust and respect.
Currently, we operate several programs. Operation Backpack provides economically disadvantaged children with a backpack filled with new school supplies and a new, age-appropriate book. Through our Christmas Cheer Program, we distribute Christmas stockings and new books to local children. In an effort to provide at-risk children with opportunities for physical activity, we provide Youth Sports Scholarships for a variety of activities, including football, soccer, basketball and baseball. Our newest initiative provides free workshops for parents and youth on such topics as how to build your child’s self esteem, cyber safety, coping skills, conflict resolution, and how to handle peer pressure, “mean girls” and bullies.
We are currently seeking auction items for our Annual Bids for Kids online auction fundraiser which runs from April 12 - May 1, 2014.
