As a 501(3)(c), we provide assistance to needy children in Calvert County, Maryland. Through our programs, we strive to promote the importance of education and literacy.  We also provide children with opportunities to play recreation level sports, which not only helps keep kids active, it also helps promotes self-discipline, leadership, teamwork, cooperation, trust, and respect.  Currently, we operate several programs. Operation Backpack provides economically disadvantaged children with a backpack filled with new school supplies and a new, age-appropriate book.  In an effort to provide at-risk children with opportunities for physical activity, we provide Youth Sports Scholarships for a variety of activities, including football, soccer, basketball, and baseball.  The purpose of our Great Book Giveaway Program is twofold: to give books to children who otherwise might not have books (or many books) of their own and to educate parents on the importance of reading aloud to their young children. We are seeking auction items for our annual online fundraising auction which runs April 12 - May 1, 2017.  All of the funds raised from this event will be used to further Children’s Aid’s work in our local community.
