2025 Philadelphia Junior Solar Sprint

The Philadelphia Jr. Solar Sprint is coming this spring, Saturday, May 31, 2025 on the Drexel University campus. This exciting (and FREE) annual event is an opportunity for middle school students to put their science & engineering skills and creativity to the test, as they show what their model solar-powered cars can do. In the Jr. Solar Sprint, students from across the region compete for prizes in: Speed, Technical Merit & Artistic Merit.
The Junior Solar Sprint is a national program, coordinated by the Philadelphia Solar Energy Association - a 501 C-3 non-profit) recognized for its excellence in STEM education. In the process of building their model solar cars, students learn:
Fundamentals of solar: how to convert solar energy into electricity, basic electrical circuitry and wiring, battery storage, physics of energy transfer: converting solar energy into motion and speed, gear ratios, etc.
We are looking for raffle items to cover the costs of putting on this wonderful event!
