Description

The Rotsky Foundation for Mentors (www.rotskyfoundation.org), a not-for-profit, 501.c.3 foundation (#31-1516788), which has close connections with Case Western Reserve University, partners Cleveland, Ohio inner-city middle school students (protégés) with local professionals (mentors) that work in a field of interest to the student. Motivation is vital to the success of this program. This is our annual silent auction where the money we raise helps us to provide one-time freshman college scholarships ($1,000 or $1,500) to our high school seniors. The foundation is a mentoring program where the protégés (starting in the 8th grade) are matched with a Cleveland area professional/adult where they meet both in the workplace & personally. Every protégé that has stayed in the program throughout their senior year has gone on to college & the statistics for a Cleveland City School student to graduate with a 4 year college degree is 11.3%. The demographics of the population served by our foundation is all races & all genders in grades 8th - 12th grade.

Goal One:  To Provide Motivation for Education

Goal Two:  To Establish and Build a Positive Relationship

Goal Three:  To Provide Career Advice and Direction

Goal Four:  To Offer a Network for Success

Mentoring youth will help them not only understand and learn skills needed in life, but help them understand themselves better as well, who they want to be, and increase confidence. It also helps them build relationships with not only peers, but authority and older adults as well. A mentor will support you, cheer you on, provide feedback, advice, and help you define and reach your goals. It can be a key relationship in your life and one that has the potential to impact your choices and career trajectory significantly.
