Since 1981, The Ben & Betty Zarda Family Golf Classic has truly been a labor of love, raising more than $3 million for Catholic Charities Foundation of Northeast Kansas. Each year, the Fund-A-Need helps provide food assistance for families during the summer months, when donations are often low. During the summer, the number of individuals who rely on food pantries increases 27%. At the same time, the amount of food and monetary donations that Catholic Charities receives drops nearly 50%. This is what we refer to as the Summer Food Drought. Essentially, Catholic Charities serves MORE people but with LESS resources. Families who rely on free or reduced cost lunches throughout the school year to help feed their children turn to Catholic Charities' food pantries and monthly mass food distributions. 

The 42nd Annual Ben & Betty Zarda Family Golf Classic will be held on Monday, May 15th at the Lake Quivira Country Club. Our goal of raising $150,000 will help stock the shelves of 8 food pantries and feed our neighbors in need throughout 21 counties served by Catholic Charities.
