Mission: To animate the gospel of Jesus Christ by putting love into action. Our neighbors who are challenged by poverty of mind, body, and spirit find the open door of Catholic Charities in our communities and are met with help, hospitality, and hope.
Overview: For 66 years, Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas (CCNEK) has welcomed the opportunity- and challenge - to deliver a broad mix of stabilizing and sustaining social services to impoverished residents in a 21-county area that is home to nearly half of the state's population. We answer the call to serve everyone from all walks of life, without discrimination and regardless of their urban, suburban, or rural setting. Our 30-plus programs were accessed by more than 53,000 clients all across northeast Kansas during fiscal year 2022. These 30 programs include programs designed to meet immediate needs, stabilize those struggling day-to-day and strengthen those, who through help from Catholic Charities, has been able to receive the support needed to confront obstacles head-on and with confidence. These programs include food and housing support, financial assistance to pay bills, financial literacy classes to gain skills to become financially secure, refugee services, citizenship classes, English classes, pay-day loan payment programs, pregnancy and adoption counseling, and workforce and employment programs.
