Please join us for our 4th Annual Murder Mystery Dinner/Silent Auction,  It’s Murder in the Wings, Saturday, March 2, 2024. Festivities begin at 5:45 pm at The Atrium, 300 N. 5th St., Garland, TX 75040. The cast includes members of the Garland community, including two City Council Members and our very own Garland Mayor! 

This annual event is Good Sam's signature fund-raising event, supporting and bringing awareness of our mission:  compassionately feeding, helping and serving through direct food assistance and community partnerships. Our first three Murder Mystery Dinner/Silent Auctions were sold-out events and this one is well on its way! 

There has been a steady increase the last few years in the number of families receiving supplemental food assistance. Of the 4,000 households served monthly, 500+ are first-time guests. Significantly, 30% of individuals served are children. 

From our observation, food insecurity (when money to buy nutritional, safe food is limited or unavailable) is the new ‘silent pandemic.’ With Covid assistance and protections eliminated and rent, fuel and food prices inflated, underemployed/low-wage earners are choosing between providing adequate, nutritious food for their families or paying rent. Families--especially with young children—are struggling to provide enough safe and healthy food for normal growth and development.
