Project Understanding will be holding its 5th Annual Spring Golf Classic on Monday, May 6th, 2024 taking place at the private prestigious Saticoy Club. 

Project Understanding is a local 501c3 charity whose mission is to alleviate poverty and bridge the gaps for those in need by providing food, homeless assistance &  homeless prevention, tutoring, and supportive services to the most vulnerable residents in Ventura County.  Through collaboration, we empower and assist people to reach their highest attainable level of independence. Our goal is “to transform lives and empower independence by providing resources to the most at-risk in our community. Our motto is “Understanding Needs, Restoring Hope.”

This event will raise funds to help us meet our budget goals and allow us to provide around 30,000 meals each month – feeding 1,000 families each month. As part of our Food Pantry, we also provide the FIRST STEP program services where our case managers are able to assess the physical and emotional needs of each individual and family to help them access further needs through referrals as well. The food pantry provides a non-threatening introduction for us to address the full circle of needs of individuals and families which can help keep them from poverty’s doorstep and help them with a brighter future – providing referrals to education and job training programs, substance abuse programs, benefits advocacy for benefits and medical options and more.

100% of the proceeds of this event will go directly to program services to fund case management for our First Step program, our Tutoring Centers, our Food Pantry, and Homeless prevention and assistance.
