Description

The Chemung County Child Advocacy Center (CAC) is hosting our 6th annual Bowl for Our Children fundraiser on April 13, 2024, at 1PM at Dixie Bowling Lanes.  Proceeds will go directly to meeting the needs of the children we serve.  We simply cannot do that without your support! Event Features: 50/50 Raffles, Gift Basket Raffles, Cash Prizes, Three Games of Bowling/Shoe Rentals and Music.

The Chemung County Child Advocacy Center has been serving the community since 2007 and is nationally accredited through the National Children’s Alliance. The CAC is a program under Family Services of Chemung County, Inc., which is a Non-for-Profit 501 (c) 3 Charitable Organization.

CACs were developed to improve the response to child abuse allegations and to reduce re-traumatization of a child during the investigative process.  In 2021, we served 452 kids and families; by 2023, this number skyrocketed to 791 youth served. Last year, 436 of our cases involved child sexual abuse/assault and 84 involved teen dating or domestic violence allegations.

First time visitors to the CAC are often nervous and unsure about what’s to come.  Toys, stuffed animals, and backpacks are often given to children when they visit to offer comfort.  Every child is presented with a drink and snack. Clothing, diapers, and personal care items are also made available for those suffering a tragedy or fleeing an abusive environment.  With your help, we can ensure these vital services continue.
