Description

2020 was challenging for everyone and the joy and comfort provided by pets was more important than ever. We never took a break from rescuing kittens and cats in need, especially those with serious medical issues. The rescue pulled together to adapt to social distancing guidelines, state and local restrictions limiting access to spay/neuter surgeries and medicines, and an overwhelming number of homeless cats due in part to a lack of access to TNR intervention. Our dedicated team of volunteers rescued 358 kittens and cats in 2020 - that’s 133 more than in 2019! 

To help us continue our mission, we are requesting a donation of one or more items, services, or gift cards of your choice to be auctioned at Alley Cats and Angels’ 5th annual fundraiser, Alley Cats & Ales 2021 Silent Auction. 

This event is the largest source of income for our Medical Fund which is used for both acute and chronic health issues as well as routine medical care.  2021 looks as though it will be another tough year for cats and kittens in the community. Since Alley Cats and Angels rarely says no to a kitten with a serious injury or illness, there continues to be a strain on our Medical Fund. 

Alley Cats and Angels is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization so donations will be tax-deductible. All donors will be listed on our website and promoted on social media in the months leading up to the event. The item(s) will be on display online for two weeks prior to November 6th, as well as at the event itself (if pandemic restrictions allow for an in-person event this year). 

Last year we had a highly successful two-week online silent auction instead of an in-person event. With the anticipation that event restrictions may be lifted by this summer, we will hopefully combine the two-week online silent auction with a culminating event at a local brewing company in the Raleigh-Durham area (TBA) including food trucks and live music*.  As in previous years, we expect 500+ supporters to participate, and  everyone will definitely be ready for a celebration!

We request that donations be confirmed latest by September 1st and received by September 15th.   Donations can be mailed to the PO Box below (a street address can also be provided).  If you are local to the Raleigh-Durham area, we can have a volunteer pick up your donation directly. 

We appreciate your consideration of support for our fundraising event.   Last year we raised a net total of over $12,000 for the rescue’s Medical Fund and with your help we hope to raise even more in 2021!
