The Annual Book & Author Luncheon, the major fundraiser for the New Braunfels Public Library Foundation (NBPLF), will be held May 9, 2023 at the New Braunfels Convention Center. Four Texas authors will present their new books and talk about their writing to 500 attendees. The Silent Auction at the luncheon is a major component of our fundraising efforts. Last year it raised $9,580 thanks to the widespread community support for the library. We are requesting a gift card or gift basket to include in it. The NBPLF raises money for capital projects not normally covered by city funding. Since its inception in 1996, the Foundation has raised over $1,000,000 for library projects. Past projects include the addition of a coffee/snack kiosk in the lobby of the main library, a complete remodel of the Children's Room, and the purchases of a bookmobile ($240,000) and a sprinter van ($60,000) that delivers books to the homebound. Currently we are raising money to add outdoor programming spaces at the main library and the new Westside Community Branch. We believe in the impact that our library has in our community. Every age group benefits from our library, from our youngest at StoryTimes to our seniors using the bookmobile. By offering access to free programs, services, materials, and trainings, our library offers exciting ways for people to grow and learn as well as a safe community center.
