Boardwalk BBq is the Friend of Tri-Valley Foundation's Annual Spring Fundraiser.  The event features a dinner, silent, live, and stretch auctions, and door prizes.  All funds raised during the evening go towards the Foundation's mission to provide quality and affordable housing as well as aid in the delivery of services, such as residential, vocational, life enrichment, case managment, respite, and horticultural therapy for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities in the southeast Kansas counties of Allen, Bourbon, Chautauqua, Elk, Greenwood, Neosho, Wilson, and Woodson.  

Since 2001, the Foundation has built six houses, acquired six additional houses plus a duplex.  These 13 houses are now "home" to 69 individuals.  These homes have given the individuals who reside there a sense of pride; they are always excited to show off their homes to visitors.  Each home has given them an opportunity to become more independent and involved in their community.  They are part of the community and are not excluded.  Along with housing, the funds raised aid in the development of job skills, daily living skills, and life enrichment.
