Bowling Thunder
Sporting Event for CHATHAM-KENT VICTIM SERVICESFeb 04, 2024 from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM
hatham-Kent Victim Services provides crisis intervention services to those impacted by crime, tragedy, trauma, and disaster. Our services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. With a team of over 40 dedicated volunteer Crisis Responders, we help people cope by offering emotional support in the immediate moments following a traumatic situation. We also work to educate the broader public by offering training opportunities on various topics.
Everyday, people are faced with unimaginable tragedy. So far this year, we have seen an increase of over 2200% in incidents of hate, over 470% increase in incidents of elder abuse, over 190% increase in harassment, and over 90% increase in supporting people through suicide. In 2022, we supported approximately 120 people in our community every month, a 12% increase from the previous year.
In February 2023, our inaugural Bowling Thunder event helped us raise $10,000 to continue supporting vulnerable people across Chatham-Kent. The event is returning for its second year on Sunday February 4, 2024, from 2pm – 4pm at Chatham Bowlerama (100 Keil Dr. South, Chatham, ON) and we are looking to beat our total from last year! Community members sign-up for 90 minutes of bowling and collect pledges to support victims in our community.
As part of the event, we are hosting a Silent Auction and looking for donations to auction off to help us raise funds to support our programming. We are grateful for any support you might be able to provide.
