The Colo-Rectal Awareness Party is a fun evening that takes a lighthearted approach to a very serious subject in hopes of engaging people in what can be difficult conversations! CRAP began when our physicians were finding a higher than normal incidence of colon and rectal cancers in patients who had never had a colonoscopy. When asked why they had not had this important prevention screening, the answer was always the same- the patient could not afford it. This event works to remove the barrier facing patients with family history, who are high risk, under the insurance age for screening or just simply uninsured/underinsured. To date this program, which is the only one of its kind in Missouri, has provided 700 no-cost colonoscopies to patients. In doing so, physicians have removed pre-cancerous polyps in a percentage of patients, stopping cancer before it starts. A colonoscopy can also detect cancer in its early stages giving patients a great opportunity to fight and win against cancer. This test also relieves the stress of not knowing in cases where there is high-risk or family history. 

The CRAP event is a fun night of talking about poo, passing poo, and learning about how poo-ing your bowels clean can help stop cancer! The tables are themed with miniature toilets that flush, there are stress poos inviting you to "Get your Colonoscopy", education provided by a physician and a patient testimonial. The dinner and dessert is followed by a live auction with exciting things to bid on including a private plane to Kansas City, a private tailgate and suite to see a Kansas City Chiefs game, a boat lift and travel to Mexico! Following the live auction, guests can play at any of the themed games to include the Poly Pop, the TP Toss, the Butt Putt as well as casino games including "CRAPS." Participation earns you tickets to one of our 5 grand prizes. A silent auction hosts over 100 great items up for bid and other fun includes a Wine Pull. Guests go home with Colon and Rectal Cancer prevention swag to remind them to spread the word about the importance of colonoscopies as well as the referral information on how to send individuals in need to the program.
