Description

The District 59 Education Foundation raises money to benefit the students in all of our schools. Teachers submit grant requests for items they need to enrich and enhance the education of their students, and based on the amount we earn through our efforts, teachers grants are fulfilled. In the past the foundation has been able to provide class sets of novels, accompanist fees for choirs, audio/visual aids for classroom, art supplies, technology and many other supplies that teachers need to provide better instruction. With a large number of our students qualifying for “Free and Reduced Lunch, we want to go out of our way to provide those extras to give them the best start for their bright futures. Thusfar, the District Education Foundation has been able to put more than $225,000 back into the classrooms in the district to benefit the students.

This year, our big fundraising event is called District 59’s Got Talent that will be held on April 13 at Harper College. Two acts from each of our schools will be competing to be named the winner of this event. In addition, we will have student art work on display to highlight the talents of our students in all the Arts. At the end of the night, winners will be selected based on their “votes”. During the evening we will be raffling off baskets of items to raise additional funds to help fulfill the grant requests. We need your help to fill the baskets with great items we can raffle off to the attendees at this event.

We are also asking for donations from generous local businesses to help us celebrate the students who were selected for this event from their schools. We would like to get donations of smaller items such as scoops of ice cream, free shake or drink, etc. to give as part of Swag Bags for our “stars”. If you are interested in donating these items we would be very grateful. Everyone who donates will be listed in our program that evening with a special thank you from the District 59 Education Foundation. We need to have the donations by March 20 to assure advertising in program. If you need any further information or need the donation picked up from your company, please contact Jayne Wilkins-Scott at lilylu97@aol.com or at 847-584-7166. To mail in a donation, it can be sent to District 59 Education Foundation, c/o Wilkins-Scott, 128 S. Webster Lane, Schaumburg,IL60193. Thankyouinadvanceonbehalfofourfoundationand the students in District 59 who will benefit from your generosity. We are committed to these students who are “Thinkers, Dreamers, Doers”.
