Description

The District 59 Education Foundation raises money to benefit the students in all of our schools. Teachers submit grant requests for items they need to enrich and enhance the education of their students, and based on the amount we earn through our efforts, teacher’s grants are fulfilled.  In the past the foundation has been able to provide class sets of novels, accompanist fees for choirs, audio/visual aids for classroom, art supplies, technology and many other supplies that teachers need to provide better instruction. With 59% of our students qualifying for “Free and Reduced Lunch”, we want to go out of our way to provide those extras to give them the best start for their bright futures. Through the generous donations of businesses/ individuals, we have been able to give over $235,000.00 in grants to teachers for their classrooms since we began.  And your donation last year really helped us raise the most money for this event we have since we started this event in 2015.
This year, our big fundraising event is calledDistrict 59’s Got Talentthat will be held on April 18 at Harper College.  Two acts from each of our schools will be competing to be named the winner of this event.  In addition, we will have student artwork on display to highlight the talents of our students in all the Arts. At the end of the night, winners will be selected based on their “votes”.   During the evening we will be raffling off baskets of items to raise additional funds to help fulfill the grant requests. We need your help to fill the baskets with great items we can raffle off to the attendees at this event.
We are also asking for donations from generous local businesses/individuals to help us celebrate the students who were selected for this event from their schools. We would like to get donations of smaller items such as scoops of ice cream, free shake or drink, etc. to give as part of Swag Bags for our “stars”.   If your company is interested in donating these items we would be very grateful. Everyone who donates will be listed in our program that evening with a special thank you from the District 59 Education Foundation, on a sign at the event, and on our FB page..  If you need any further information or need the donation picked up from your company, please contact Jayne Wilkins-Scott at lilylu97@aol.comor at 224-622-1664.   We need donations by March 31 in order for your name to be listed in our program and to be put on signage at the event.
Thank you in advance on behalf of our foundation and the students in District 59 who will benefit from your generosity.  Here are two links to let you see how previous events went:
