Each year about 100 women and men attend our annual fundraiser at the Woodland Hills Country Club.  Besides an interesting speaker, attendees come for the fun of bidding on our silent auction items, many of which are one-of-a-kind, or the chance to win one of 75 or so raffle items in our opportunity drawings. 

All funds raised and donated go to help our many charitable activities and projects, including thousands of dollars each year for food, clothing and toiletries to our local VA Hospital for homeless veterans, and shelters (including one for abused women and children); $2,000 in college scholarships for students in science, education and nursing; historical site preservation; and, this year, support for recent fire victims.  Most of the funds spent on these projects are raised at this event each June, our only fundraiser each year.  Our members also raise other monies for conservation organizations (including replanting our local burn areas), support Guide Dogs for the blind, fill duffel bags for foster children and donate to local charities.

Our donors are listed in both the event program and our annual membership directory to recognize their generous support.  This directory is provided to all our members, most of whom are local San Fernando Valley residents, but we have members throughout California, elsewhere in the U.S., and even two who moved to Switzerland.  The event will be posted on our chapter FB page, invitations will be sent to all 7 chapters in our district (498 members) plus DAR state officers (many of whom attend), and both before and after the event it will be reported in the CA DAR FB page and enewsletter that goes to all 9,588 CA DAR members.
