We are contacting you about supporting the United Way of Northeastern Minnesota’s 7^th Annual Flavor of the North event, taking place on Thursday April 21, 2016.  All event proceeds will support United Way of Northeastern Minnesota’s “Buddy Backpack Program” which provides supplemental backpacks full of nutritious, child-friendly food to at-risk children each Friday or weekend break they head home from school. The majority of the children enrolled in this program are between the ages of 5 and 12.  Currently, 646 children throughout Minnesota’s Iron Range schools are benefiting from this program, receiving meals each Friday. 

At the Flavor of the North, participating area restaurants will prepare their best menu item and demonstrate their finest in food, atmosphere and customer service to event guests.  Throughout the evening, attendees will vote for their favorite food in three categories: “Best Appetizer”, “Best Entrée” and “Best Dessert” - by secret ballot. The event will conclude with the announcement of the “Best of the Best” award, determined by the most ballots received by a participating restaurant. 

Tickets to Flavor of the North will be on sale to the public for $50 per person with a limit of 400 attendees. In addition to savoring the finest cuisine across the Iron Range, those attending will enjoy a variety of wine and beer tastings along with a silent and live auction.

The goal of the Flavor of the North event is to recognize those restaurants that provide the Iron Range with excellence in culinary experiences while raising money for a very worthy cause.   Your donation would be greatly appreciated and would benefit hungry northern Minnesota children!
