Funds raised at the 8th annual event benefit the environment education outreach of the Nature Foundation. As a 501 c3, the Foundation encourages understanding, appreciation and conservation of the natural and cultural resources of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Programs include environmental education of all ages, summer camp for elementary students, research and monitoring ecosystems, Native American archaeology research, native plant propagation program and maintained hiking trails of 35 miles.
